An Angel's Tears
Written by: Gabriel
One day I happened upon an angel
A breathtaking experience one soon not forgotten
For I remarked past my shock and amazment that she was crying

Why does this angel cry?
Is she mourning?
What could make such a beautiful creature so?

Never one to leave someone in such a state I approach
Quietly I walk closer and she makes no sign of notice
I kneel beside her and put a hand on her shoulder only then does she see me

"Forgive my rudeness but I took notice of your crying.
I wonder if there is anything I can do to help
For such a thing as thee should not be laid to waste by tears"

"I have lost my charge" the angel replied
"Many the years I have watch over them
from before their birth to their dying day"

"I could not protect them from their fate
I could no more protect myself from falling in love with them
A mortal love that could never survive"

My heart was touched by these words
I pulled a handkerchief from my pocket and wiped away her tears
I then looked her in the eye and spoke from the heart

"Cry not for the loss of your mortal love
Take strength in the knowledge that love is immortal
and though death may have seperated you that shared love is always there"

She thanked me then for my kindness and placed a kiss upon my brow
She informed me that she would stay a little longer and I bid her to take my handkerchief
She thanked me again as I stood to take my leave

I walked away not knowing what else to do or say
And as I moved I felt a slight breeze
I looked back to see if it was the angel taking flight

What I saw next I could not explain
for what was before was a tombstone with a concrete angel perched above
and be it illusion or trickery I do not know, but a tear came rolling down her face

I cannot recall now if it truly happened at all
But I know a sense of truth that my experience was real
For the angel's hand hold my handkerchief
