This Side of the Glass
Written by: RevoltedHorror
I find myself crying
When I look at you
Those blue eyes of yours—
And everything you do

Words that make them laugh
And words to make them weep
The arms that you have;
Keeping them from falling in too deep

Outside I know you
But inside…
Who are you?

Tears stain my cheeks
As I look into your eyes
Wondering, day by day
Why you still bother to try

On you push—through them all
Picking up their remains;
Catching the ones that fall,
Walking beside the wounded—the lame

Outside, I know you
But inside…
Who are you?

Your curtains close at night
And you lock the iron gates—
Keeping out the creatures
While for tomorrow, you wait

Everything around you
Isn’t quite as it seems
When you can’t sleep through
Every one of their screams

Outside I know you
But inside…
Who are you?

I’d help you, myself
If you weren’t so far out of reach
For my delicate little hands
That can’t even save me

I see you cry for them
Holding them upright
Time and time again, my friend
You guide them through a time of fright

Outside, I know you
But inside…
Who are you?

Those iron gates keep me
From coming inside
They cackle with laughter
As I sit and cry outside

This sundry collection of tears
Finally made me believe,
That through all these years
I’ll still never know me
